Man Hides in Bathrooms

Drinking urine in cities: Hilliard, Westerville,
Dublin. Worthington and Gahanna. Family
Restaurants, movie theaters. He waits
For boys in a bathroom stall. He leaves
After the child leaves.

It makes him sick. It’s spiritual
To him. Since he was seven—
“It makes me closer.” Since he was
seven—“I’m drinking their youth.”
It's like listening to a crack: “It makes
Me closer.”

I know. Lately I’ve been feeling like even more of a credit to the human race than usual. You won’t catch me hiding my light under a bushel basket.
